It is difficult to answer the question “how much does a yacht trip cost” in a single sentence, as the price of a yacht rental depends on a number of factors:

  • the type of yacht – sailing or motor yacht,
  • the size of the yacht,
  • the technical and visual condition of the yacht,
  • the year of manufacture,
  • the duration of the trip,
  • the number of guests on board,
  • the departure point of the trip,
  • the need for an additional yacht transfer,
  • seasonality,
  • the day of the week,
  • special route conditions, etc.

The price itself can also be expressed in different ways. For example, it may be the total cost of a yacht trip, the average cost per hour, or the average cost per person for a particular trip.
For instance, renting a recently built, brand-new yacht will always cost more than a trip on a ten-year-old yacht.

Type of Yacht

Renting a motor yacht will cost more than renting a sailing yacht, as motor yachts are powered by high-performance engines that consume a considerable amount of fuel. A sailing yacht relies primarily on wind energy. Sailing yachts also have an engine, but it serves an auxiliary purpose — to enable movement in calm or headwind conditions, as well as to manoeuvre safely in port.

Size of the Yacht

The price of a trip is also determined by the size of the yacht — the larger and more comfortable the yacht, the higher the overall cost. It can range from €45/hour for a 30-foot sailing yacht to €850/hour for a 60-foot twin-deck flybridge motor yacht.
It is worth noting that a larger yacht can also accommodate more guests, and when calculated per person, the cost may turn out to be very similar or even lower compared to renting a smaller yacht.

Duration of the Trip

The most direct factor affecting the price is the duration of the trip — the longer the trip, the higher the total cost. However, as the duration increases, the average hourly rate typically decreases.
For example, the yacht “Stars” is listed at “from 68€/hr”. This is the average hourly rate for a five-hour trip. Keep in mind that shorter trips will always have a higher hourly rate. The one-hour rental price for this yacht is 150€, while a two-hour trip costs 250€, or 125€/hr. For yachts on which we offer hourly trips, the first hour is always the most expensive.

Surcharge for Number of Guests

Certain yachts have an additional surcharge based on the number of guests if it exceeds a set limit. A large number of people on board places additional psychological strain on the yacht’s captain, both from a practical and a safety standpoint. Cleaning and restoring the yacht after a trip with a large number of guests also requires more time and attention. Depending on the yacht, this surcharge ranges from €10 to €35 per person above the specified limit.

Seasonality and Days of the Week

Rental prices during the peak of summer — the second half of July and the beginning of August — may also be higher than in May or September. We apply this seasonal pricing policy to trips on the many of our yachts.
The day of the week also plays a significant role in pricing. Higher rates traditionally apply on weekends — Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays — when demand is greater. Trips on other weekdays are more affordable.

Surcharge for Yacht Transfer

How does the choice of departure or arrival point affect the rental price? Each yacht has a designated home berth where it is kept. We typically start and finish trips there, but you may also book a trip from any other suitable dock for the yacht in question. In this case, an additional fee will apply for the yacht’s repositioning (transfer).
A classic example is a trip on a yacht based in Bolderāja or Mangaļsala departing from Riga city centre. Delivering the yacht to the city centre requires an additional hour of time and a corresponding surcharge on top of the trip price.
A similar situation arises when organising a yacht trip from Riga to Jūrmala or vice versa. If you wish to travel this route in one direction only, you will also need to cover the cost of the yacht’s return journey, which together with the main trip time amounts to 7 hours for the yacht.
